43:1 But now, this is what the Lord says— he who created you, Jacob, he who formed you, Israel: “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. 43:2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. 43:3 대저 나는 여호와 네 하나님이요 이스라엘의 거룩한 이요 네 구원자임이라 (개역개정) 43:3 For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior; (NIV)

R. C. Sproul, ed., The Reformation Study Bible: English Standard Version (2015 Edition) (Orlando, FL: Reformation Trust, 2015), 1201.

John F. MacArthur Jr., The MacArthur Study Bible: New American Standard Bible. (Nashville, TN: Thomas Nelson Publishers, 2006), Is 43:3.

Heavenly Father, thank you for transforming me into your children already. You are with me with your love and faithful acts so I worship you with my sincere heart. Please hold my heart not be afraid of my life and give me the heavenly courage to live for you. I pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.

15:1 We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak and not to please ourselves. 15:2 우리 각 사람이 이웃을 기쁘게 하되 선을 이루고 덕을 세우도록 할지니라 (개역개정) 15:2 Each of us should please our neighbors for their good, to build them up. (NIV) 15:2 Let each of us please our neighbors for their good, to help them be stronger in faith [edify them; build them up]. (The Expanded Bible)

15:1–4 We who are strong have an obligation to bear with the failings of the weak. Paul considers himself one of the “strong.” He sees the misinformed conscience of the “weak” as real weakness, yet he emphasizes the responsibility of the “strong” to be patient with the “weak.” He does not encourage feelings of pride, or flaunting one’s freedom in matters offensive to the weak.

R. C. Sproul, ed., The Reformation Study Bible: English Standard Version (2015 Edition) (Orlando, FL: Reformation Trust, 2015), 2006.

15:1 to bear. The word means “to pick up and carry a weight.” It is used of carrying a pitcher of water (Mk 14:13), of carrying a man (Ac 21:35), and figuratively of bearing an obligation (Ac 15:10). The strong are not to simply tolerate the weaknesses of their weaker brothers; they are to help the weak shoulder their burdens by showing loving and practical consideration for them.

John F. MacArthur Jr., The MacArthur Study Bible: New American Standard Bible. (Nashville, TN: Thomas Nelson Publishers, 2006), Ro 15:1.

15:2–3 The strong Christian is to follow the example of one’s Lord, who did not please himself. As foretold in Scripture, Jesus bore the insults and hostility that people had against God (Ps 69:9).

Edwin A. Blum, “Romans,” in CSB Study Bible: Notes, ed. Edwin A. Blum and Trevin Wax (Nashville, TN: Holman Bible Publishers, 2017), 1803.

74.15 οἰκοδομέωb; ἐποικοδομέωb; οἰκοδομήc, ῆς f: to increase the potential of someone or something, with focus upon the process involved—‘to strengthen, to make more able, to build up.’

Johannes P. Louw and Eugene Albert Nida, Greek-English Lexicon of the New Testament: Based on Semantic Domains (New York: United Bible Societies, 1996), 675.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for confirming your truth to me. I want to embrace the weak. I want to serve them with encouragement and compassion. Like Jesus, I want to live to please others, not myself. I pray in Jesus' name, Amen.

119:18 Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law. 119:19 I am a stranger on earth; do not hide your commands from me. 118:20 주의 규례들을 항상 사모함으로 내 마음이 상하나이다 (개역개정) 118:20 My soul is consumed with longing for your laws at all times. (NIV)

119:18 Open thou mine eyes. Remove the spiritual blindness that hinders me from seeing God’s glory and beauty in the Word (Deut. 29:4; 1 Cor. 2:14; 2 Cor. 3:14–18; 4:4–6). wondrous things. Extraordinary, often miraculous things, beyond human ability (v. 27).

Joel R. Beeke, Michael P. V. Barrett, and Gerald M. Bilkes, eds., The Reformation Heritage KJV Study Bible (Grand Rapids, MI: Reformation Heritage Books, 2014), 859.

119:20 crushed with longing. This expresses the psalmist’s deep passion for the Word (cf. vv. 40, 131).

John F. MacArthur Jr., The MacArthur Study Bible: New American Standard Bible. (Nashville, TN: Thomas Nelson Publishers, 2006), Ps 119:20.

119:17–20 By emphasizing that he needs God to help him understand His directions (v. 18), the psalmist alludes to revelation that goes beyond just knowing their content (see v. 18 and note). He sees himself as a foreigner (v. 19), and seems to respond to his situation by longing for God’s direction (v. 20).

John D. Barry, Douglas Mangum, et al., Faithlife Study Bible (Bellingham, WA: Lexham Press, 2012, 2016), Ps 119:17–20.

Heavenly Father, I want to rely on You and Your Word as I live as a foreigner in this world. Please open my spiritual eyes wide so that I may know You deeply. Please pure your grace to stir my soul to seek your word. I pray in Jesus' name, Amen.

레위기 23:3 엿새 동안은 일할 것이요 일곱째 날은 쉴 안식일이니 성회의 날이라 너희는 아무 일도 하지 말라 이는 너희가 거주하는 각처에서 지킬 여호와의 안식일이니라 (개역개정) 23:3 “You have six days each week for your ordinary work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath day of complete rest, an official day for holy assembly. It is the LORD’s Sabbath day, and it must be observed wherever you live. (NLT)

23:3 Six days shall work be done: Perhaps as important to human well-being as the day of rest are the six days of work. Work was given to the human race in the Garden. Work is one of the ways humans bear the image of God. Work itself is not a curse on the race. Instead, it remains, even after the Fall, God’s good gift. The regular seventh day of rest and other holidays from work are ordained for our refreshment and the chance to commune more closely with God and His people. A Sabbath of solemn rest may be restated as “a Sabbath that is all a Sabbath should be”—a day of rest and of solemn, joyful worship. In all your dwellings emphasized the universal nature of the Sabbath. It was not to be observed only in the sanctuary; it was to be celebrated in every household.

Earl D. Radmacher, Ronald Barclay Allen와/과H. Wayne House, The Nelson Study Bible: New King James Version (Nashville: T. Nelson Publishers, 1997), 레 23:3.

23:3 Jesus affirmed that he is “Lord of the Sabbath” (Mt 12:8) and that “it is lawful to do what is good on the Sabbath” (Mt 12:12). The book of Hebrews also speaks of a spiritual rest into which the community of faith enters through Jesus Christ (Heb 3–4).

Kenneth A. Matthews, “Leviticus”, in CSB Study Bible: Notes, ed. Edwin A. Blum와/과Trevin Wax (Nashville, TN: Holman Bible Publishers, 2017), 191.

디모데후서 1:10 이제는 우리 구주 그리스도 예수의 나타나심으로 말미암아 나타났으니 그는 사망을 폐하시고 복음으로써 생명과 썩지 아니할 것을 드러내신지라 (개역개정) 1:10 but it has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who has destroyed death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel. (NIV)

1:10 The manifestation of God
’s plan and grace has been revealed, or brought to light, in the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ. abolished death: Fear of dying might have caused believers to shrink from testifying about their faith. The Greek term translated life is typically used of eternal life in the New Testament. God’s life, unlike the life of humans, is immortal; He cannot die. Through their faith in Christ, believers have inherited eternal life. We have nothing to fear, not even death. Therefore we can proclaim with boldness our trust in Christ.

Earl D. Radmacher, Ronald Barclay Allen, and H. Wayne House, The Nelson Study Bible: New King James Version (Nashville: T. Nelson Publishers, 1997), 2 Ti 1:10.

Thank you, Heavenly Father, for your triumph over death through your beloved son, Jesus Christ. You have dispelled the fear of death within us and bestowed upon us the gift of eternal life in the present moment. Therefore, we earnestly desire to dedicate our lives to you and your kingdom. We offer this prayer in the name of Jesus. Amen.

야보고서 1: 27 하나님 아버지 앞에서 정결하고 더러움이 없는 경건은 곧 고아와 과부를 그 환난중에 돌보고 또 자기를 지켜 세속에 물들지 아니하는 그것이니라 (개역개정) 27 Pure and undefiled religion before God the Father is this: to care for orphans and widows in their adversity and to keep oneself unstained by the world. (NET)

1:27 orphans and widows Orphans and widows were particularly vulnerable in ancient times (Deut 14:29; Ezek 22:7; Acts 6:1–6).

John D. Barry기타, Faithlife Study Bible (Bellingham, WA: Lexham Press, 2012, 2016), 약 1:27.

Just as a mirror reveals what our faces look like, so the Word of God reveals who we really are and calls us to repentance, faith, and obedience. “The perfect law that gives freedom” (v. 25) is the Old Testament Scriptures as fulfilled and interpreted by Jesus (cf. Mt 5:17). True freedom is found in obedience to Jesus, something that is only possible for the Spirit-empowered, born-again believer. True religion, warns James, is not a matter of thinking oneself to be religious. True religion, in God’s eyes, is keeping away from wickedness (e.g., evil speech, various moral pollutions in the world) and aligning oneself in word and deed with the priorities of God (e.g., caring for those in society who face the direst material circumstances).

Robert L. Plummer, “James”, in The NIV Grace and Truth Study Bible, ed. R. Albert Mohler Jr. (Grand Rapids, MI: Zondervan, 2021), 1726.

Heavenly Father, I come before you today, expressing heartfelt gratitude for revealing to me the profound meaning of living as your beloved children. I humbly seek your guidance, that you may lead me in following your truth as a disciple who embraces true piety. In Jesus' name, Amen.
