Don't be frightened, for I am your God! I strengthen you— yes, I help you— yes, I uphold you with my victorious right hand. (NET)

41:10 I am with you. God’s presence with his people in the world is the ultimate antidote to fear (cf. 43:5; Gen 26:24; Josh 1:9; see note on 7:14, “Immanuel”). righteous right hand. The hand that can be trusted to do the right thing in every circumstance. God will not do wrong; so he acted righteously when he sent the people into exile. And it will also be an act of righteousness for him to deliver them (42:21; 45:21).

D. A. Carson, ed., NIV Biblical Theology Study Bible (Grand Rapids, MI: Zondervan, 2018), 1236.

41:10 Fear thou not. The gospel calls men from fear to faith (vv. 13–14; 7:4; 35:4; 43:1, 5; 44:2, 8; 54:4; Jer. 30:10; 46:27–28). I am with thee. God is present with believers through Christ (7:14) to enable them to keep His covenant (thy God); this includes His promise to strengthen and help them in their troubles (Ps. 91:15).

I want to thank you for your word of faith and courage, which has provided me with comfort and strength during times of fear and uncertainty about the present and future. I have faith that you are always with me, and that Jesus Christ is spiritually united with me. I trust that you have guided me on the best path in accordance with your will and purpose and that you have provided me with the strength I need to overcome any obstacle. Please continue to guide me and give me the courage to live each day with faith and strength, trusting in your plan and purpose for my life. I pray all of this in Jesus' name, Amen.

3:16 Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst? (NIV)

3:16 Do you not know. Implies that the Corinthians should know. See p 1965. you. The congregation. God’s temple. In the OT, the temple was established as God’s place among His people; in the NT, such a building is redundant because “God’s Spirit dwells in you” as God has promised.

Edward A. Engelbrecht, The Lutheran Study Bible (St. Louis, MO: Concordia Publishing House, 2009), 1950.

3:16–17 ye are the temple of God. “Ye” is plural. The church corporately is the temple of God. The Spirit dwells in the church. If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy. It is no small thing to trifle with the church of God.

Joel R. Beeke, Michael P. V. Barrett, and Gerald M. Bilkes, eds., The Reformation Heritage KJV Study Bible (Grand Rapids, MI: Reformation Heritage Books, 2014), 1650.

Dear Heavenly Father, I want to thank you for your divine power to save sinners, and for your unyielding presence within your saints and the Church. You came to us in our brokenness and humbled yourself by taking on the form of a servant, all because of your deep love for your children. You chose to walk alongside us and seal our salvation for eternity. Please help me to cherish your Church and to love it deeply, as it is the body of Christ on earth. I pray that I may take care of your Church and help it to flourish in the midst of an evil age. May your Holy Spirit guide and direct us in all that we do, so that we may continue to spread your love and truth to those around us. I pray all of this in Jesus' name, Amen.
