네비암송 (64) “겸손한 모습”으로, 나의 유익만이 아니라 “다른 사람의 유익”을 함께 추구하세요 (빌립보서 2장 3-4절 / E-2 겸손)

 

빌립보서 2:3 아무 일에든지 다툼이나 허영으로 하지 말고 오직 겸손한 마음으로 각각 자기보다 남을 낫게 여기고 2:3 Instead of being motivated by selfish ambition or vanity, each of you should, in humility, be moved to treat one another as more important than yourself. 2:4 각각 자기 일을 돌아볼 뿐더러 또한 각각 다른 사람들의 일을 돌아보아 나의 기쁨을 충만케 하라 (개역개정) 2:4 Each of you should be concerned not only about your own interests, but about the interests of others as well. (NET)

2:3 SELFISH AMBITION. This is the second time Paul has used this word (1:17). It means “working to advance oneself without thought for others.” CONCEIT. This is the only occurrence of this word in the NT. Translated literally, it means “vain glory” (kendoxia), which is asserting oneself over God who alone is worthy of true glory (doxa). HUMILITY. This was not a virtue that was valued by the Greek in the first century. They considered this to be the attitude of a slave (i.e., servility). 다툼 : 바울이 이 단어를 사용한 것은 이번에 두번째 입니다. 이것은, 다른 사람을 생각하지 않고 자신의 성공만을 위해 노력하는 것입니다. 허영 : 신약에서 이 단어가 여기에서만 등장합니다. 문자 그대로 번역하면, “헛된 영광”을 의미하며, 홀로 참된 영광을 받기에 합당하신 하나님 보다 자기 자신을 높이는 것입니다. 겸손 : 이것은 1세기 그리스인들이 중요하게 여겼던 미덕이 아니었습니다. 그들은 이것을 노예의 태도로 여겼습니다.

2:3–4 Paul realizes that everyone naturally looks out for his or her own interests. The key is to take that same level of concern and apply it also to the interests of others. Such radical love is rare, so Paul shows its supreme example in Jesus’ life (vv. 5–11). 바울은 모든 사람이 자연스럽게 자기 자신의 이익을 추구한다는 것을 깨닫습니다. 핵심은, 자신에게 향하는 동일한 수준의 관심을 다른 사람의 이익에도 적용하는 것입니다. 그러한 급진적인 사랑은 드물기 때문에, 바울은 예수님의 삶이라는 최고의 모범을 보여주고 계십니다.

네비암송 (45) 하늘 아버지께, 당신의 염려를 '온전히' 맡기세요 (베드로전서 5장 7절 / C-4 평안)

 

베드로전서 5:7 너희 염려를 다 주께 맡기라 이는 그가 너희를 돌보심이라 (개역개정) 5:7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. (NIV)

 

5:7 casting all your anxiety on Him. This verse partly quotes and partly interprets Ps 55:22. “Casting” means “to throw something on something,” as to throw a blanket on a donkey (Lk 19:35). Christians are to cast all of their discontent, discouragement, despair, and suffering on the Lord, and trust Him for knowing what He’s doing with their lives (cf. 1Sa 1:10–18). Along with submission (v. 5) and humility (vv. 5, 6), trust in God is the third attitude necessary for victorious Christian living. 너희 염려를 다 주께 맡기라 : 이 구절은 시편 55편 22절의 부분적인 인용과 해석입니다. 이사야 26:3 주께서 심지가 견고한 자를 평강하고 평강하도록 지키시리니 이는 그가 주를 신뢰함이니이다 (개역개정) You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you. (NIV)

 

26:3 perfect peace. The peace described here is first the corporate peace of the city (v. 1) and the nation (v. 2) that comes from the “hand of the Lord” (25:10). It is also the individual peace of the person whose mind is stayed on God. The source of such peace is the righteous, sovereign, saving God (25:9), who “will swallow up death forever” and “will wipe away” every tear (25:8; see Rev. 21:4), and who alone is worthy of trust. 평강하고 평강하도록 : 여기서 묘사된 평강은 먼저 “여호와의 손”에서 오는 “성읍”과 “민족”의 공동체적인 평화입니다. 그리고 동시에, 하나님께 마음을 둔 개인의 평강이기도 합니다. 그러한 평강의 근원은 “사명을 영원히 삼키시고” 모든 눈물을 “씻기실” 의로우시고 주권적이며 구원하시는, 홀로 신뢰 받으실 수 있는 하나님이십니다.

독서 묵상 (18) 죽음의 수용소에서 - 가장 어두운 순간에도, 오늘 나의 태도를 선택할 수 있습니다

 

"이제 더 이상 아무것도 할 수 없다" 라는 절망이, 나 자신을 사로잡을 때가 있습니다. 삶이 힘들고 고난이 찾아올 때에 누구나 경험하는 지극히 정상적인 반응입니다. 희망이 보이지 않을 때에 인간은 좌절하며, 더 깊은 절망 속으로 빠져들어가게 됩니다. 

아무것도 할 수 없다는 좌절 속에서도, 그럼에도 불구하고, 우리는 여전히 선택권을 가지고 있습니다. 그 상황 속에서 어떤 태도를 가지는가는 전적으로 나의 선택입니다. 좌절할 수 있는 것도, 새로운 소망을 가지는 것도, 나의 선택입니다. 그런 면에서 인간은 자유롭습니다. 시련에 대한 태도를 주체적으로 선택함으로써, 삶의 방향을 틀어 새롭게 만들어갈 수 있습니다. 그러므로, "아버지 하나님의 사랑 안에서 주어진 시련"이라는 관점과 태도는, 우리의 삶의 방향을 이끌어주는 가장 강력한 실재입니다.
