16:23–24 At that time refers to the time subsequent to
Jesus’ resurrection. From that day
forward, when they had a request, the disciples could go
directly to the Father and ask him (see 14:13–14; 15:7). This was another
reminder that Jesus would not remain on earth indefinitely after he rose from
the dead. Requests asked in Jesus’ name are requests that the believer knows Jesus would be
pleased to answer, requests that are in accordance with the Father’s will. Any such request will be
given. Answered prayer brings abundant
joy—just ask any believer! Jesus
encouraged the disciples to ask, so that they might receive and
have full and complete joy (see also 1 John 5:13–15). 그날에 라는 말씀은, 예수님의 부활 이후의 시간을 의미합니다. 그날 이후로는, 제자들이 간구할 것이 있을 때에 그들은 아버지께 직접 나아가 그분께 요청할 수 있습니다. 이것은 예수님께서 죽은 자 가운데에서 부활하신 이후에는 영원히 땅에 머무르지 않으실 것임을 상기시켜 주는 것입니다. 예수님의 이름으로 구한다는 것은, 신자가 예수님께서 기꺼이 기도에 응답하실 것을 아는 간구이며, 또한 그것은 아버지의 뜻에 합당한 간구입니다. 그러한 간구는 이루어질 것입니다. 응답된 기도는 풍성한 기쁨을 가져옵니다. 신자에게 물어보십시오! 예수님께서는 제자들이 완전하고 온전한 기쁨을 가지고 누릴 수 있도록 제자들이 기도로 간구하라고 격려하십니다.
